Residents in a number of areas along Ciliwung River have been alerted of possible floods following hours of heavy rain in Bogor, West Java on Friday night.
Water height at Manggarai sluice gate in Central Jakarta reached 775 centimeters as off 10 a.m. on Saturday, or 25 centimeters above the normal height, and is expected to remain steady in the next few hours, an operator of the flood control facility, Dian Nurcahyono, told kompas.com.
He said water height in Katulampa sluice gate in Bogor increased to 140 cm at 10 p.m. on Friday, higher than the tolerable limit of 90 cm.
Areas to be affected by floods include Pangadegan, Kalibata, Rawa Jati, Bukit Duri, Rawa Jati, Gang Arus, Kebon Baru, Bukit Duri, Bidara Cina, Kampung Melayu and Matraman Dalam.
But Katulampa flood gate operator Andi Sudirman said the water height had been back to normal to 40 cm as of 10 a.m. on Saturday. Bogor residents are expected to enjoy a sunny day on Saturday.
