West Java Police have banned motorists from entering the Cikopo turnpike gate, saying the gate was open only to traffic exiting from the turnpike.
"We implement the policy on Sunday at 12.00 a.m.," Cikopo turnpike gate head Mulyadi said Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The ban was supposed to be implemented three days before Idul Fitri, but the traffic in the turnpike rose sharply over the weekend, forcing the police to speed up the ban.
"During this weekend, the traffic exiting from the Cikopo turnpike gate has reached 30,000 cars," Mulyadi said.
Police have also rerouted motorists who wanted to enter the Cikopo turnpike to Kota Bukit Indah area and use the Kalihurip turnpike gate.
