A Russian news agency is reporting that the death toll from Sunday's suicide attack on a military base in southern Russia has risen to four.
Interfax quotes Col. Albert Kokoyev of the Buinaksk base as saying a fourth soldier died in the hospital Monday night, a day after a car bomber attacked the base in the violence-plagued republic of Dagestan, killing three and wounding 32 soldiers.
Dagestan is gripped by near-daily violence between police and soldiers and insurgents believed to be inspired by separatists in neighboring Chechnya.
The bomber smashed his car through a gate of the base and headed for an area where soldiers are quartered in tents. But after soldiers opened fire on him, the driver rammed the car into a military truck where it exploded.
