Figure of passengers at the Kampung Rambutan bus terminal in East Jakarta surged to double the normal number Monday, marking the beginning of the busy period for the terminal management ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday, which will be celebrated on the weekend.
The terminal security deputy chief Comr. Dani Hamdani said the number of passengers had increased to 13,000 from about 6,000 on regular days.
“The number of departing buses has risen to at least 600 from the usual 188,” he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Around 28,000 passengers have headed to their respective destinations from Kampung Rambutan terminal since last Friday. The figure was expected to increase as the holiday approaches, added Dani.
