Hutomo Mandala Putra aka Tommy Soeharto is suing Garuda Indonesia, citing errors in an article about him published in the national flag carrier’s magazine.
Tommy's lawyer Ferry Firman Nurwahyu said in the December 2009 edition of Garuda Indonesia’s magazine an article titled “A New Destination to Enjoy in Bali” stated that Tommy was the owner of a tourist spot called Pecatu, and that he was a convicted murderer.
Ferry said Tommy deemed mentioning that he was a convicted murderer in the article was irrelevant.
"Tommy is suing Garuda, Indo Multi Media, the publisher hired by Garuda, Indo Multi Media employees Taufik Darusman and Sriwidiati, Garuda spokesman P Ujobroto, and Garuda senior marketing, communications and promotions executive Prasetyo Budi," he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Tommy demanded the defendants publicly apologize in Tempo magazine, Bisnis Indonesia and Kompas daily newspapers.
