Transportation Minister Freddy Numberi held a sudden inspection at Senen train station in Central Jakarta to monitor Idul Fitri exodus on Tuesday evening.
“PT Kereta Api has added 28 extra trains to serve the revelers,” Freddy said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
A significant surge at most train stations in the capital began five days prior to the holiday which is celebrated on the weekend, he added.
Freddy hoped that travelers could maintain order during the trip, despite severe traffic jam.
As expected, the Idul Fitri exodus reached its peak on Tuesday, which is three days ahead of the celebrations. Several spots along Pantai Utara (northern coastal of Java track) began to be crowded with homecomers.
