Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo has ordered medical workers at community health
centers in 44 districts across the city to operate a 24-hour service one week
prior and one week after Idul Fitri, to ensure health service remain available
in the event of emergencies.
"I emphasize that health services will be available 24 hours a day during the
Idul Fitri holiday, especially in community health centers. There are no
holidays for community health center workers,” Fauzi said on the sidelines of
his visit to three regional hospitals Thursday.
To ensure his instructions are being followed, Fauzi will visit a number of
community health centers on the second day of Idul Fitri on Saturday.
For community health center workers at subdistrict level, however, the Jakarta administration
has given two days off for the Idul Fitri holiday.
Other public services, including public transportation, sanitation and disaster
mitigation, will also be available 24 hours a day during the holiday season.
