Doctors from Soenandar Mojosari Hospital in the East Java regency of Mojokerto are prohibited from switching off their cellular phones during the Idul holidays.
Hospital director Noer Windijantoro said Thursday he had asked the doctors to stay on call all the time as part of efforts to provide the best service to patients, even during the Idul Fitri holidays.
“The policy is intended to enable us to give appropriate medical treatment to patients in the event of an emergency,” Noer said as quoted by Antara state news agency.
The hospital has assigned six doctors to the emergency care unit, who will be divided into three shifts to cover the morning, afternoon and evening, every day during the Idul Fitri holidays. A number of specialists will also be ready for assistance in case of emergency.
