Empty streets in Jakarta as Idul Fitri holiday begins

Jakarta
main streets saw far less traffic Thursday morning as offices begin their Idul
Fitri holiday.
Little traffic was seen on usually congested main roads, which include Jl.
Jenderal Sudirman, Jl. MH Thamrin, Jl. Medan Merdeka, Jl. Kramat Raya and Jl.
Raya Matraman, and at the Senen and Dukuh Atas junctions, news portal kompas.com reported.
There were also far fewer people seen using the Tranjakarta busway.
State offices closed on Thursday for the Idul Fitri holiday, which will last
until Monday.
Jakarta is
expected to see more traffic in the evening as citizens celebrate the eve of Idul
Fitri parade or takbiran.
