Jakarta Police have called on the public to conduct Idul Fitri eve parades in their respective residential areas, although stopped short of forbidding processions from taking place on the main streets.

Chief of the Jakarta Traffic Police Sr. Comr. Condro Kirono warned Thursday the police would ticket those who violate traffic regulations during the street parades.

“We will not hesitate to ticket them if they breach traffic regulations,” Condro told reporters, as quoted by kompas.com.

He added that the 2009 Traffic Law would be enforced against the use of pick-up trucks to carry passengers, passengers who sit on top of buses, motorcyclists who wear nonstandard helmets and motorcycles with no mufflers.
