JAKARTA: Seven houses on Jl. Garuda, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, were razed by fire on Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported in the incident as all homes were left vacant left by the residents celebrating Idul Fitri in their hometowns.

Sumadi, a staff with Central Jakarta Fire Department, said 23 fire engines were deployed to combat the blaze.

He was quoted by beritajakarta.com as saying a short circuit in one of the houses was one possible cause of the fire.

Eko Susanto, one of residents, said that they had informed the owners of the houses about the fire.

“They [the house owners] knew that their houses were affected by the blaze,” he said. — JP
