29 Afghan immigrants arrested in Palu

Central Sulawesi Police arrested 29 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan
in Palu on Monday night.
“They were arrested at 11:30 p.m., according to information from the Central
Sulawesi Police,” head of the Palu Immigration Office immigrant detention house
Yusuf Sadu said Tuesday, as quoted by Antara state news agency.
Sadu said the police were scheduled to hand over the immigrants to the
Immigration Office on Tuesday for further processing.
He explained that the immigrants had been arrested because they did not have
any identity documents.They were possibly asylum seekers heading for Australia, he
said.
On Sunday, four other Afghans were arrested at Mutiara Airport
in Palu and are now being detained at the Immigration Office.
