Letter: Clarification from Garuda Indonesia
| Tue, 09/14/2010 10:18 AM
With reference to the report on Garuda Indonesia’s delayed flight GA-222
from Jakarta to Solo metioned in The Jakarta Post on Sept. 8, we would
like to convey the following clarification to avoid any confusion.
For commercial considerations, a flight can wait until the arrival of a
group or a fairly large number of passengers before departure. The same
is true in the case of passengers with a connecting flight who have to
move to another airplane.
In relation to the GA-222 flight, Democratic Party secretary-general
Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) never asked Garuda to delay the flight
until his group’s arrival.
What happened was just part of our standard operational procedure, where
the flight had to be delayed for around 10 minutes since a fairly large
number of passengers were due to board.
