Three more Afghans escaped Wednesday after 10 of the 29 immigrants who were arrested in Palu fled from their temporary residence at a hotel.

“Two of the three escapees are Gulam, 25, and Mohammad Hussani, 26," Yusuf Sadu, the head of the Palu immigration office detention unit, said Wednesday as quoted by Antara.

Gulam and Hussaini allegedly escaped while awaiting questioning by the local immigration office. Mohammad Kasim allegedly fled the hotel after breakfast at the Duta Hotel, where the 29 immigrants were staying.

Earlier in the day, 10 Afghanistan refugees had escaped the Duta Hotel. The immigrants had left the hotel at around 3.30 am local time, by climbing over the hotel’s back wall, Palu immigration officer I Made Rusdiko said.

A number of local immigration and police officers are pursuing the 13 escapees.

The illegal immigrants had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday, because Palu Immigration Detention Center was full.

Central Sulawesi Police had arrested the 29 illegal Afghan immigrants in Palu on Monday night.

The 29 Afghans were in the same group as four others who were arrested at Mutiara Airport in Palu, and were handed over to Makassar Immigration Office in South Sulawesi early this month.
