South Sulawesi police confiscate hundreds of illegal logs

East Luwu Police have confiscated a total of 740 allegedly illegal logs, cut down from protected forest in Towuti, South Sulawesi, during two raid operations.

The police have also arrested eight people, including two truck drivers who were transporting the logs.

East Luwu Police chief Adj. Comr. Richard Naenggolan told The Jakart Post said Saturday that they were still hunting the owners of the logs.

Richard said the police planned to beef up monitoring of illegal logging.
