Large wave drags three tourists away, one still missing at Banten beach

A large wave at Tawing Beach in the Cinangka subdistrict of Serang, Banten, dragged three tourists into hazardous waters on Sunday. Two were reportedly rescued, while one was still missing.

Cinangka Police chief Adj. Comr. Hamzah told tempointeraktif.com that his team was still searching for the missing victim, identified as Maksum, 17, of Pabuaran sub district.

“We are conducting the search, despite the two-meter waves,” Hamzah said.

The two swimmers rescued are Marudin and Sodri, both 15, who are friends of Maksum. None of the three youths knew how to swim, Hamzah said.
