Central Java High Prosecutors Office declared Tegal Regent Agus Riyanto a suspect in a case of alleged graft involving the Slawi Ring Road project (Jalingkos).
Agus is considered responsible for an alleged Rp 3.9 billion (US$434,295) graft on the project. The figure was sourced from Tegal administration budget (Rp 1.7 billion) and Bank Jateng (Rp 2.2 billion).
“After conducting a thorough investigation, we found that Agus Riyanto is the main suspect on Jalingkos project graft,” the office head Salman Maryadi said Monday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Salman said the office sent a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono three weeks ago, requesting his permission to probe Agus on the graft case.
“We are still waiting for the President’s approval,” he added.
