President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked national athletes to fight it out to win the Southeast Asian Games at home next year.
“I call on you to make the SEA Games that we will host a success. Do your best and I hope you to share the spirit, determination and commitment to top performance or winning the games,” Yudhoyono said during the National Day commemoration at the Senayan tennis indoor stadium on Tuesday.
The president said the sports day should mark revival of the country’s achievements in international events.
Indonesia will host the SEA Games in Jakarta and Palembang. Indonesia was once a dominant player in the regional multi-sports competition, but it has never won the biennial event since 1997.
