City to train 50 traditional guards

DENPASAR:  The mayor’s office has organized a specialized training session for 50 pecalang, or traditional security guards.

Municipality official Wenten Suparlan said that the two-day training was aimed at improving skills and knowledge so the pecalang could manage security in their neighborhoods. The mayoralty has trained 200 pecalang to date and hopes to field 3,000 pecalang in the future, he said.— JP
