Hendarman waiting for president’s order

Attorney General Hendarman Supandji said Wednesday he opted to wait for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's decision following the Constitutional Court's verdict, which is said to put Hendarman’s term to an end.

"I will definitely wait for the president's orders because he has the right to appoint and dismiss his aides," Hendarman said, adding that he would look into the Constitutional Court’s ruling.

The court ruled in favor of former justice minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra's judicial review motion regarding Hendarman's legitimacy as the attorney general.

Hendarman, who is retiring soon, said his replacement would depend on the president.

He ensured all cases being investigated by state prosecutors would remain unaffected by the court's ruling.

"However, I will not take strategic decisions," he said. (gzl)
