The Constitutional Court is scheduled Friday to read its verdict over a judicial review filed by former National Police chief detective Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji on the Witness and Victim Protection Law.
Susno has been detained since being accused of accepting Rp 500 million (US$55,000) in bribes from Sjahril Djohan, a suspected case broker, to “settle” a fraud case at a Riau-based arowana fish breeding company, PT. Salmah Arowana Lestari.
In the judicial review, the plaintiffs believe that Susno is a whistle-blower deserving protection rather than detention as a suspect in a case Susno himself disclosed.
The call for a judicial review was made after the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) failed to get Susno out of police detention and into a safe house due to differences in interpretation of the law between the agency and police.
