Accelerate MRT construction: VP

Vice President Boediono has asked the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) to hasten the design and construction of mass rapid transportation in Jakarta to help relieve the city’s severe traffic problems.
Boediono expected the final project design to be completed next year.
“The Vice President is very concerned with the MRT prospect because it is among 17 options to help improve the traffic situation in Jakarta,” the Vice President’s spokesman Yopie Hidayat said Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
The first track of the MRT project is expected to connect the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and Kota, Yopie said.
