Baekuni faces death penalty for killing four children

Prosecutors have asked an East Jakarta District Court panel of judges to sentence Baekuni, 49, to death for murdering four street children.

Baekuni has been proven guilty of premeditated murder, prosecutors said.

“The defendant is guilty of inhumane acts of cruelty,” state prosecutor Trimo said during a Tuesday hearing, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

An apologetic Baekuni responded to the charges with regret, and said he was afraid of his potential to return to his former conduct.

Baekuni made headlines following his arrest on Jan. 8 after he confessed to sodomizing, killing and mutilating boys aged between 10 and 12 years old.
