A clash erupted between two rival groups outside the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, leaving three people dead.
South Jakarta Police detective chief Comr. Nurdi Satriadji said two of the fatalities were identified as Agustinus Tomazona, 49, from Ambon, Maluku, and Saefudin, 48, from Medan.
“The other is a man named Ceko Kei according to information from the public,” Nurdi said as quoted by kompas.com.
The bodies of two of the victims were taken to hospital, while the third was awaiting formal identification at a nearby laundry.
At least four other people were injured in the brawl, two of them severely. The warring groups were armed with sharp weapons, but witnesses said they also heard gunfire, kompas.com reported
Police blocked all access roads to the court because of the clash, which broke out as the rival groups attended the trial of defendants involved in a brawl in Blowfish nightclub in South Jakarta in April, which also claimed one life.
