Text your say: Road collapse

A- A A+

Your comments on a 100-meter section of Jl. RE Martadinata in North Jakarta that collapsed last week, affecting nearby businesses and residents.

The sudden collapse of a 100-meter section of a busy harbor road occurred, unbelievably, without any casualties.
Thank God for that. It is a clear warning for the responsible road operators and motorists that there is a risk of collapse any time on any busy road.
The remaining half of the collapsed road could follow suit. It is now time for the authorities to re-check the construction and condition of all busy economically important roads in our country.

Who should be held responsible?
It’s our Public Works Ministry that must bear the responsibility and should do their job for the benefit of all taxpayers.

This is yet more evidence of incompetence and corruption as a result of Indonesian “experts”. This incident would never have happened if they had made a thorough study of the condition of the
site and the quality of the materials used.
I don’t think that they made the right calculations nor spent the whole budget on the construction of the road; I suspect the funds have been mutilated in such a way that the people of Indonesia will have to hand over more to pay for the reconstruction of this damaged road. What a shame.

Well, it finally happened … Probably in the next 20 years from now, all the roads in the area
of northern Jakarta will be inundated, but hopefully not. Learn from what nature is telling you, folks!

It is obvious that the materials didn’t meet standards. Corrupt officials used the money for the road building.
