Letter: Burning the Koran

Priests, preachers, clerics etc. anywhere in the world who study theology are first taught to respect other religions. This American pastor is so ignorant and selfish when he stated that he would lead his congregation in burning the Koran.

The holy book of the Muslims i.e. the Koran is as important to Muslims as the Bible is to Christians the world over. With this statement, he puts the lives of Americans living in Muslim countries at risk, especially American soldiers who are currently fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

General Petraeus is extremely unhappy by this pastor’s statement and he should know. Radical Muslims will surely undertake reprisals against Americans living and working outside the United States.

I wonder why Obama remains quiet. Is he afraid that he will become more and more unpopular if he issues a statement condemning the actions of this pastor?
