National Police detective chief Comr. Gen. Ito Sumardi said investigators were identifying a number of people who would be named suspects in connection with a deadly clash between two rival gangs outside the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday.

“It’s not true that we don’t enforce the law. We have taken firm measures to prevent the clash from escalating, due to the fact that Jakarta is the point of reference of security condition in the country,” Ito said as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.

He said the South Jakarta police would soon name suspects in the incident, which left three people killed and nine others injured.

“We will seriously investigate the case,” Ito said.
