AYAPURA, Papua: Six residents reportedly died in a flood that struck the Teluk Wondama regency capital of Wasior in West Papua on Monday.
“Six people were swept away by the flood, and we’re still searching for them. We also found three injured residents who were evacuated to Manokwari,” Cendrawasih military command spokesman Lt. Col. Susilo told The Jakarta Post.
Monday’s flood affected traffic and inundated housing complexes, he said.
Many residents seeking safety had abandoned their homes, resident Agus said. — JP
