Letter: Is democracy the best system?

This letter refers to an article titled “Rise of China and the future of Australia,” by Michael Danby of Melbourne (The Jakarta Post, Oct. 2).
Every system has its own merits and demerits, and we cannot say that one system has only merits and is 100 percent efficient and that others are not.
It is ridiculous to assume that only western-led democratic systems are ideal for human beings.
We saw in the early peak of the West what it did in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East — in the name of so-called democracy, human rights and bla bla bla.
The world knows and is witnessing that when China has developed, Asia has also come up, as has Africa and Latin America.
I have been working in China for the last six years and I can say China has one of the most efficient governments and corporate cultures in the world.
Asians are smart enough to manage and develop their countries and achieve success in harmonious ways. All wars and conflicts — from the world war to the gulf war were gifts from inefficient and impulsive westerners.
They are solely responsible for today’s radicalism and spread of terrorism throughout the world.
The West are the most corrupt societies, which have ate up all the savings of the masses in one night and lead to the global financial crises.
Lying to the world about the WMD in Iraq; bypassing the opinions of the rest of the world and the UN; and attacking sovereign states; making conflicts between several countries in Asia and Africa etc.
Do you want more proof than this to see how efficient your so-called democracy is?
The writer should understand that western powerhouses are in declining mode and their days are numbered. The rise in Asia is definite. Do not lecture us, you Australian, the stooge of the US in Asia.
