West Jakarta Police destroy Rp 13.9b drugs

JAKARTA: West Jakarta Police destroyed drugs worth Rp 13.9 billion (US$1.56 million) on Tuesday.

“The drugs were evidence collected from three investigations,” West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Yazid Fanani told The Jakarta Post Tuesday, adding that the evidence included crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy pills, nimetazepam pills (also known as Happy Five pills) and powdered ketamine.

“The three cases have not been brought to court yet because we have to destroy the evidence first. The suspects are still in custody,” West Jakarta Police drug unit chief Comr. Kristian Siagian said Tuesday.

In September, police arrested a suspect identified as RF and confiscated drugs worth Rp 6.9 billion from a house in the Premier Mansion residential complex in North Bandengan, Kristian said.

Also in September, police arrested AC in the Duri Kosambi residential complex in Cengkareng and confiscated crystal methamphetamine worth Rp 4 billion.

In August the police arrested one suspect, IN, and confiscated Ecstasy pills and nimetazepam pills worth Rp 3 billion from a house in Vila Taman Bandara in Tangerang. — JP
