DENPASAR: Municipal authorities will launch a campaign to encourage Denpasar students to ride bicycles to school, says a local bike club official.

Samas Denpasar head I Dewa Made Mertakota said that the campaign would start on Oct. 28 in conjunction with National Youth  Pledge Day.

“The program is intended to increase riding safety among students and at the same time reduce traffic problems,”
Mertakota said.

Currently, many junior and high school students ride motorcycles to school without driving licenses.

“Many of them are still ineligible for licenses but they still drive motorcycles,” he added. — JP
