President to issue decree on efficiency

JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will issue a decree on efficiency for all administrative levels starting from 2011.

When opening a Cabinet meeting on politics, laws and security, Yudhoyono said he would soon form a team in charge of listing budgetary areas where the government at all administrative levels can save funds.

“Non-essential spending will have to be stopped and this will mean we save money.” Yudhoyono said he would accept criticism and suggestions from the public.

The President also asked all departments to return the state money, which remains unused after the fiscal year comes to a close instead of spending it on non-urgent, newly created projects. — JP
