Police arrested on Saturday a man in his hideout in Ende in East Nusa Tenggara for his alleged role in a deadly gang brawl outside the South Jakarta District Court on Jl. Ampera Raya on Sept. 29.

Deputy Ende police chief Comr. Hary Mulyanto said detectives from the National Police, Jakarta Police and the local police nabbed Sonny Keraf, 25, in a house on Jl. Udayana at 12 noon local time.

“He had been staying at the house while on the run since the incident in Jakarta,” Hary told Antara news agency.

Sonny was taken to Ende police office for questioning and will be flown to Jakarta on Monday, Hary said.

The police have now arrested six men in connection with the fracas, which saw dozens of rival gang members from Flores and Ambon squared off with machetes, knives, homemade guns and rocks. Three were killed in the violence, and 12 injured, including three police officers.

The fight broke out before the start of the third trial session for two Flores gang members implicated in another deadly brawl in April at Blowfish nightclub in South Jakarta.

Sonny is a resident of Fontein subdistrict in the East Nusa Tenggara capital of Kupang, who has been working in Jakarta.
