Thailand's 'Red Shirts' hold new, smaller protest

Red Shirt demonstrators have held a new
anti-government protest in the Thai capital. The crowd appeared
smaller than previous demonstrations and police said no violence had
been reported.
There was no estimate available of the number of protesters who
turned out Sunday. It appeared to be fewer than the 8,000 to 10,000
who marked last month's anniversary of the military coup that
toppled elected Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
The protesters include many Thaksin supporters as well as
activists opposed to the military interfering in politics.
Red Shirt protests in March and April calling for early elections
degenerated into violence. About 90 people were killed by the time
the army cleared the streets of demonstrators on May 19.
