The House of Representatives Commission III on law and human rights is now conducting a closed-door internal meeting.
One
of the commission members, Bambang Soesatyo from the Golkar Party, said
that the meeting's main agenda was to discuss the mechanism of the
fit-and-proper test on Comr. Gen. Timur Pradopo, the National Police
chief candidate.
Gayus Lumbuun from the Indonesian Democratic
Party of Struggle (PDI-P) said that there was an idea growing that the
legislators could visit Timur's domicile and the National Commission for
Human Rights (Komnas HAM) to probe on the candidate's track record.
Timur's past was highlighted by numerous human rights violations, such as the Trisakti incident.
