The Attorney General's Office said Wednesday that it would consider a request by former justice and human rights minister Yusril Ihza Mahendra, a suspect in an alleged corruption case, that the AGO question some names, but it would only call upon those directly involved.
"We will only summon those relevant [to the case]," Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes Amari said, adding that prosecutors in charge of the case would decide on the witnesses' eligibility.
Yusril has been named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving an online registration service, run by a private company, at the Justice and Human Rights Ministry.
Yusril has reiterated his demand that prosecutors call the witnesses he mentioned in relation to an online graft case, which included former president Megawati, former vice president Jusuf Kalla, former minister Kwik Kian Gie and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, during his questioning session at the AGO on Wednesday.
Amari further explained that a person qualified as a witness if that person knew or was involved in a case by directly seeing, hearing or experiencing the matters in the case. (gzl)
