Prosecutors yet to receive case review instructions

Prosecutors have yet to receive a copy of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn the case review submitted by the Attorney General's Office.

The case review was on the AGO's prosecution cessation order for the ongoing abuse of power and blackmailing charges faced by Corruption Eradication Deputies Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah.

"The copies should be sent to court. Then the court will forward it on to the AGO," assistant attorney general for special crimes Amari said.

"The AGO has not received it as of today," he continued.

He added that prosecutors would look into the court's instructions mentioned in the copy.

"We will carry out the court' instructions once they are made available," he said. "If there are no instructions, the decision will depend on the AGO."

He further added that issuing a "deponeering", or halting a case for the public good would "still take a long time" since it required approval from the executive, legislative and judiciary bodies. (gzl)
