The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) says it will not halt its investigation in to the vote buying scandal although a complaint had been filed by Panda Nababan, a suspect in the case, to the Judicial Commission.
On Wednesday, Panda filed his complaint over five Corruption Court judges, saying that they misinterpreted a number of the facts presented in court.
Johan Budi, the commission’s spokesman, said Thursday that Panda had the right to file the report.
“However, Panda’s complaint will not influence our investigation of the case. The KPK would not do anything with the process due to his report,” he said.
Johan added that the antigraft commission had already gathered enough evidence to name a suspect.
Panda, a legislator from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), has been recently named a suspect along with 25 other lawmakers in the alleged bribery linked to the selection of Miranda Swaray Goeltom as Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor in 2004.
He allegedly accepted a Rp 500 million bribe and ordered former legislator Dudhie Makmud Murod to take traveler’s checks from middleman Arie Malangjudo. (lnd)
