FPI sends team to view horror movie featuring American porn star

The Islam Defenders Front (FPI) has sent a team to view a local horror flick, entitled Rintihan Kuntilanak Perawan (The Groaning Virgin Ghost), which features American porn star Tera Patrick.

The movie premiered Thursday.

FPI Jakarta chief Habib Salim Umar Alattas said he did not want to incite unproductive controversy by reacting hastily to a possible pornographic movie.

“It could be a ploy by the producer to promote the movie by provoking a reaction from the FPI, while in fact there was no pornographic material,” Salim said Friday, as quoted by Kompas.com.

If the FPI team determined the movie to be pornographic, the group would report it to the National Film Censorship Agency (LSF) and file a police report against the producer, he added.

A year ago, Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa, better known as Miyabi, cancelled shooting the nudity-free comedy film Menculik Miyabi (Kidnapping Miyabi) after outraged religious groups opposed her visit.
