Comment: Sex, hypocrisy and Muslim leaders

O

em>Oct. 12, p. 6 “The way to be at peace and free from the anxieties of unjust behavior is to have only one wife. I have had plenty of children with both of them. Day and night, I feel unrest since there is one thing I always think of: fairness. …. Never experiment with polygamy since we are dealing with humans. I myself am weak in this case, Abdulmalik.”
— Hamka, Tafsir al-Azhar

Your comments:

If we can learn a lesson from the Koran, then we will know that Islam is very beautiful. And give to the orphans their properties and do not substitute the defects [of your own] for the good [of theirs]. And do not consume their properties into your own. Indeed, that is ever a great sin” then “If you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one ...”
In Islam getting married is not only to satisfy our lust or to have sexual relations but to create a good community with justice for all because men and women are equal, the only difference is their duty to Allah and to be pious (taqwa). In my opinion polygamy as an emergency exit or facilities is a conditional choice for a man. Man can choose what is better for himself but you must be just.
