85 Sri Lankan refugees stranded on Banten island

The Banten Water Police dispatched a team on Sunday to pick up 85 Sri Lankan refugees who are reportedly stranded on Panaitan island.

Banten Water Police head of legal enforcement First Insp. Arisandi said he got a report about the Sri Lanka refugees from a local fisherman.

"We followed up the report and are now checking the island," he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Based on the report, three of the 85 refugees decided to ask for help from the local people about their situation.
