House officially endorses Timur new National Police Chief

The House of Representatives decided to endorse Comr. Gen Timur Pradopo as National Police chief at a plenary session Tuesday following a positive result of a House fit-and-proper test last Monday.

Timur is set to replace Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri, who will retire by the end of this month.

"Commission III [overseeing law and human rights] hereby supports Comr. Gen. Timur Pradopo as the new National Police chief with some notes from factions," said the commission deputy chairman Tjatur Sapto Edy.

Tjatur added that Timur must ensure the police was an institution that could fully serve and protect the people.
