One student shot, three arrested in Central Jakarta rally

A student suffered a gunshot wound on his leg and three others arrested during a rally on Jl. Diponegoro in Central Jakarta Wednesday afternoon.

Police and dozens of students rallying on the street clashed on the street.

The students continued to blockade the street, shouting demands that the police set their arrested friends free.

Previusly, police fired ten warning shots to disperse a crowd of rallying people who were trying to penetrate a security barricade at the State Palace in Jakarta.

The rallies were among numerous rallies held across the archipelago to mark the end of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's first year in his second administration.
