Former Constitutional Court chairman Jimly Asshiddiqie filed a report Thursday with the National Police over an alleged hijacking of one of his Facebook accounts.

Jimly's third account, named "Jimly Tiga" with Jimly's birth day as his password, was allegedly used by hackers to deceive people.

"This hacker has attempted to use my account to collect money from people saying that I was raising funds for a scholarship project for orphan children," Jimly told reporters at the National Police headquarters in Jakarta.

Jimly, who recently lost his bid to be an antigraft body chairman, also said that the hacker had contacted people in the list of friends in his account offering smuggled laptops for sale.

The laptops were priced at a very low Rp 2 million (US$224) each, Jimly said.

Seven people have called Jimly to verify the offers.

"One of them has actually transferred Rp 15 million to a bank account to buy the fictitious laptops.

"He was a friend of mine who is a university professor in Manado, North Sulawesi," Jimly said, adding he had been unable to log in to his third account since September.

"It turned out the hacker has managed to identify my password and change it," he said.

He admitted he had made a huge mistake by making his birthday his Facebook password.

"This is a dangerous part of internet social networking. If anyone receives a friend invitation from 'Jimly Tiga', ignore it. It's bogus," Jimly said.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Iskandar Hasan said the police would close the hacked account as soon as possible. "Cyber crime detectives will take care of it," he said.

The police will use the 2008 Electronic Information and Transaction Law as the basis for the investigation, Iskandar said.
