A national television station, Televisi Pendidikan Indonesia (TPI), has been officially renamed Media Nusantara Citra (MNC) TV, reports tempointeraktif.com.
The celebration of the name changing was broadcast live on MNC TV on Wednesday evening.
MNC TV along with Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI) and Global TV are part of the Media Nusantara Citra group that is owned by Hary Tanoesudibjo.
The TPI renaming was a result of a business dispute between Hary and owner of the TPI, Siti Hardijanti Rukmana, who is also known as Tutut.
Tutut, former president Soeharto’s eldest daughter, has been in a legal battle against Hary over the latter’s takeover of the TPI.
Media Nusantara management claimed that the name changing was legal and said it was needed for commercial purposes.
In response, Tutut’s lawyer, Harry Pontoh, said that the change of name was “against the law,” but he did not elaborate.
