JIMBARAN: Around 22 illegal migrants from Afghanistan recently fled from an immigration detention center in Jimbaran, Badung regency.
The group broke loose on Monday at around 4 a.m., detention center chief Amir Fatah said Wednesday. Bali immigration officials had arrested the group at hotels in Kuta, last September. “Most of them were depressed and ran amuck on Sunday morning, breaking the windows at the center,” Fatah said.
The Jimbaran Detention Center currently houses 63 illegal immigrants from Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and other Middle Eastern countries. —JP
