Oktoberfest at SMS on Saturday

Summarecon Mall Serpong (SMS), in cooperation with the Barrels and Frankfurt Hotdog, will host a traditional German Oktoberfest party on Saturday evening.

The event, the fourth in as many years, will cap a series of programs that started on Oct. 1 at the Summarecon Mall Serpong’s downtown walk in the Gading Serpong housing estate in Tangerang.

“We hold the Oktoberfest because of the high level of enthusiasm among expatriates, especially Germans, who have attended the previous events,” PT Summarecon Agung Tbk communication general manager Cut Meutia said Friday.

The festival will feature traditional German folksongs and Bavarian dances that will be performed by students of the Deutsche Internationale Schule (DIS) and the Swiss German University.

“To enliven the festivity, we will also hold a series of competitions ranging from a beer drinking contest to a hotdog dressing contest, and we will also provide door prizes for visitors,” Meutia said.
