House speaker did not give closing speech during a plenary

A- A A+

House of Representatives speaker Marzuki Alie did not read out his speech during the legislative body's final plenary before entering recess.

Instead, Marzuki asked the legislators whether they agree or not on the written form of his speech that had been distributed before the plenary began.

"Agree!" the legislators exclaimed to Marzuki.

Marzuki then dropped the hammer, signaling the end of the House's first seating period for the 2010-2011 legislative term.

Previously, the House speaker always read out his speech about the legislative body's accomplishment and its agenda for the future.
