Merapi victims to be buried in mass grave

The victims of Mount Merapi eruption will be buried in a mass grave in Umbulharjo village in Cangkringan, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Sleman regent Purnomo said Wednesday.
Purnomo also said the local administration would give Rp 2.4 million (US$268) in goodwill payment to the deceased families.
Most of the 31 victims that were killed by hot ash and cloud from the eruption were residents of Umbulharjo village. The village is located around 4 kilometers from the volcano.
Among the victims were a journalist and an Indonesian Red Cross volunteer, who were in the village when the eruption occurred.
