Ex-‘Playboy’ editor files case review

JAKARTA: Jailed former chief editor of Playboy Indonesia Erwin Arnada filed a case review with the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

“We don’t have any new significant evidence to support the petition. We are protesting the legal standpoints that were used by the panel of justices to base their ruling [which sent Erwin to prison],” his lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis said. Proponents of press freedom had criticized the Supreme Court for using the Criminal Code instead of the press law to base their recent ruling for Erwin, who had won his case at the District Court before prosecutors appealed the verdict.

The Supreme Court found him guilty of publishing “pornographic” material. — JP
